NFTS
What is an NFT? It is a digital file (eg. A photo/video) that is stored on the blockchain. The blockchain is a decentralised and immutable system, meaning no person or entity controls or owns it. Once something is recorded, it can never be changed or removed. Since nobody owns or controls the blockchain, it’s physically impossible to do so. We are also able to prove its’ authenticity and ownership via blockchain technology.
In 2021, I became one of the first dancers to ever mint and sell a Dance NFT.
Here is an analogy to easily describe what NFTs are; a painter can create a piece of art on a canvas and sign it, citing that it is the original. The painter can now photocopy the original and sell that too, but it is only a photocopy.
We can now do this digitally - we can store something on the blockchain and say ‘This is the ONE and there is only ONE’.
Never in the history of the internet have we been able to do this in an effective way, and with this new technology emerged a new era for digital artists. I have managed to upload my dance videos onto the blockchain to sell them as digital pieces of art. I now have collectors from all over the world who own my dance videos as digital pieces of art.
In May 2021 I started my own web3 company called ‘Metamovers’, and a few months later we launched our first collection ‘Metamovers NFT Crew’.
We created 16 animated characters that perform a range of 8 different dance styles to originally produced music. Hover over each character to watch them in action! We have also created some Dance NFTs with some of the best Dancers in the UK, see here.

Another goal of ours as Metamovers is to host a yearly dance show, where every performance will be minted into Dance NFTs.
On October 19th, 2022, we made history and hosted a live Dance NFT Showcase in a 700-seat theatre in London.
I have sold a total of 10 Dance NFTs, raising more than $20,000 in sales. It is still a very new industry, but I truly believe that dancers, artists, and creatives can take advantage of this new technology, and create an entirely new industry where we are more in control of our art and value.
